He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed (I Peter 2:24).
Another chapter is commencing as 2026 becomes a reality. This is the time of year many begin to reflect on newness of life. It is likewise a time of renewal in many facets of life. Along with newness and renewal comes an opportunity to live anew.
Healing tree hope brings this freshness of more opportunity to live in accordance with the healing the tree sacrifice of Jesus affords humanity. It is through this event that humankind is given the privilege of becoming newly created (2 Corinthians 5:17). The marks that tainted the successful existence of humanity were erased, and the promise of living in sacred wholeness was encased in fleshly beings. The new way of overcoming the trials of finite beings became possible through this newness of life (Romans 6:4).
Of course, there are blockades to realization of such perfected possibility. Thus, there is a renewal provision that continuously restores redeemed humanity to the place of divine privilege. The healing tree sacrifice provided the avenue for forgiveness. Each time the mark is missed, there is a holy eraser to eliminate the stain. The washing, rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit has justified humanity (made humankind righteous) through the grace of God. Redeemed humanity is therefore renewed to a life with provisions for restoration from the ever-present stains of missing the mark.
If old things are passed away (2 Corinthians 5:17) in this new state, then there is an opportunity to live anew. It is possible to acquire a new perspective, to adapt new strategies, and to assimilate the fleshly through the lens of divinity, so that there is a transformation of grace-filled distinction. Most assuredly, the hope provided through the healing tree sacrifice provides curative outlooks to treat the illness of missing the mark.
