Healing Tree Hope 2.6

ree

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed (II Peter 2:24).

Healing sometimes seems like a hopeless possibility. The pain appears to persist; and proposed remedies simply mask the real issues. Could it be that deep within every wound is a concealed lesion associated with the real trouble of the affliction? If this hidden source of discomfort exists, there is a need to consider all sources of the ailment as the treatment plan is prescribed.

Hope for healing increases with the realization that natural skill and spiritual power are sources for the recovery remedies. The gracious Heavenly Father has allowed humankind to receive the skill to apply medical science toward physical, mental, and emotional wellness. This is a blessing; but, often, something remains which is still fractured. That “something” is the innermost part of humankind, which is fragmented, torn apart, when the underlying physical disease and/or psychological friction occurs.

The healing journey, therefore, is also a by-product of the price paid on the Cross of Calvary. That’s why Psalm 41 informs us that the Lord sustains His people on their sickbeds and restores them to full health (Paraphrase of v. 3, ESV). Complete recovery is inclusive of mind, body, and spirit well-being. One may even venture to assert that wellness of the spirit is beneficial to mind and body health. Thus, to be completely whole, it is essential to have application of both divine restoration and medical intervention!
