He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed (I Peter 2:24).
Faith generates hope. Both faith and hope cannot be seen with the human eyes; but these realities can be recognized through the human mind, emotions, and will. One can believe that matters can improve; conceive that progress through disappointment is possible; and perceive that frustrating circumstances will culminate.
It is true that one cannot see faith with the natural human eye. One can; however, trust what is represented by the Word of God. If whatever the Word of God says about a situation can be perceived, then that outcome can be believed as possible. If the Word of God indicates, for example, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31b), then one can face opposition not knowing the outcome, but trusting God will Keep His Word to support us. How does this happen? The door-opening situation is aligning one's thoughts, feelings, and actions with the "spirit" of God's Word. When this agreement with God occurs, His way becomes one's reality.
God is a just God, for instance. If one desires God's justice, then that individual will act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly before God (Micah 6:8). This alignment with God's will and way opens the path for God to release good things in human situations. It is the Word of God that declares the will and way of God.
Human understanding is delusional and produces hopelessness. God's Word is empowering and produces the substance of hope. Let us believe that the Word of God is the guide to order our way. Believing in the possibilities explicit in the Word of God produces hope.
