This journey with prepaid assurance continues. Over the past four weeks, chaos in our culture has intensified. The unexpected disturbances have become an existential reality. Threats not experienced for quite a while have been enacted. Without doubt, anxiety is heightened. In a climate where we are unsure, how do we become assured?
Reflection on the fact that God is present, and His power is with us is essential. Our assurance is in the truth of His presence in times of trouble. Not only is He present; but His purpose is to assist us (Psalm 46:1).
Recognition of God's record of protection for us is likewise important. He saves our lives daily by supplying life-giving breath. He disallows deadly occurrences to habitually compromise our well-being. Though we witness devastation that could become the wholesale reality of humanity continually, God Who determines all things has spared many from entrapment and destruction (Psalm 91).
Restoration of unyielding confidence in God's complete promises concerning redeemed humanity is also necessary. This is a level of trust that is wholehearted. It is not half-hearted awareness with an undercurrent of doubt. It is confident assurance in the trustworthiness of God by turning to Him in every circumstance (Psalm 116:2).
This month, let us upgrade our practices to live within the privileges accorded to those who believe the sacrifice on the tree brought incomparable hope to humankind.
