He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might live for righteousness, by his wounds you have been healed (I Peter 2: 24)
Whatever the trouble may be in our lives today, there is deliverance available. The assurance of God's protective care is a certainty for each one in covenant relationship with Him. This is a reverent note; that is, it is an utterance of high dignity and respect. A reverent tone in music, for example, creates awe and produces sounds with a calming effect. Religioso or reverent notes in music portray a quality which rises above currently experienced tonal effects.
In a similar manner, God intervenes in the trials of our lives. His tonal quality imparts calmness and satisfies requirements to solve our problems. His offering is reverent because it commands the distressful situations to settle, and they subside when encountering the tone of His voice (Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:39). God's reverent tones reflect His devotion to us and our privilege to deliver committed responses to Him. It is true in times of trouble that we can say with David:
You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah (Psalm 32:7).
We have hope in reverent tones that provide freedom from trials--tones that make a different sound from the disturbing ones!
